Remarkable
  • Polycrystalline material produced by CVD process (Chemical Vapor Deposition)
  • Available in large plates and different thicknesses up to approx. 60mm  (price correlates with the thickness of the plate)
  • Compared to ZnS its absorption and refractive index homogeneity regarding 10,6µm is better and therefore more suitable for laser components – especially for 10.6 µm high power laser
  • It is slightly softer and more prone to scratches than ZnS
  • For prism applications the material should be specially oriented with regard to the direction of growth of the microcrystalline grains
